Our hiking route starts from the forest place Gortsia on a marked mountaineering path, most of which passes through a dense forest of beeches and fir trees, while as we approach the shelter of Petrostrouga (1,940m), we meet the impressive ravines.
During the route we have the opportunity to enjoy and photograph the unique nature of Olympus which composes a mysterious landscape, as well as the wonderful view to the gorge of Enipeas from the place “Koka”, but also the Cave of Ithaca which for 20 years it was the home of the famous painter of Olympus Vassilis Ithakisiou.
From the shelter of Petrostrouga that will host us the first night, we will see in the morning the sunrise overlooking the top of Kissavos and the blue Thermaic Gulf. From there we will ascend to the alpine zone in order to be at the top of Skourta (2483m), where the vegetation is replaced by the magnificent view to the 4 points of the horizon. The eye is lost between the high peaks of Olympus over 2,000m. Here one can capture the uniqueness of the landscape of Olympus in all its glory.
Arriving at the green “Plateau of the Muses” (2750m.) We will have time to relax and enjoy the endless view and the hospitality of the shelter. This is followed by an afternoon walk, a short hiking route to the north side in the direction of the peak “Mikri Toumpa” (2740m). Later the ridge will lead us to “Megali Toumpa” (2801m) where we will enjoy the sunset.
